The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a popular short trek in Nepal’s Annapurna region, offering stunning scenery and cultural experiences. Over the course of five days, you’ll traverse the beautiful landscapes of the Annapurna Sanctuary, culminating in a breathtaking sunrise at the Poon Hill viewpoint (3,210 m), the highest point of the trek.

This low-altitude trek is ideal for trekkers of all skill levels, including beginners who have not yet experienced the Himalayas. With relatively mild weather conditions and well-marked trails, it’s accessible year-round. While the trek can be done without a guide, solo trekkers who prefer company or feel uncertain about navigating alone can easily hire a guide.

We offer a well-structured 5-day Ghorepani Poon Hill trek package at a reasonable cost. Below, you’ll find a detailed itinerary and additional information about this exciting

Trek Difficulty

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the less challenging treks in the Annapurna region. Compared to more strenuous treks like the Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Base Camp, this trek is relatively easy. However, you will still need to navigate the varied terrain of the Annapurna Conservation Area and tackle the steep stone steps of Ulleri. Each day involves 4-5 hours of trekking, making this a manageable journey for those with a basic level of fitness.

Although this is a low-altitude trek, it’s important to be mindful of altitude sickness. Staying hydrated, pacing yourself, and taking regular breaks can help prevent symptoms. Additionally, proper packing—including warm clothing, insect repellent, and sturdy boots—is essential, especially if trekking during the monsoon or winter seasons.

Overall, the 5-day Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a rewarding adventure that is accessible to trekkers of all levels.

Best Time to Trek

While the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is possible year-round, the best times are during the Autumn (September – November) and Spring (March-May) seasons. During these months, the weather is generally stable with minimal precipitation, making it ideal for trekking.

Autumn
Autumn (September – November) is the prime season for trekking in the Annapurna region, offering crystal-clear views of the snow-capped mountains. The weather is stable, and temperatures are moderate, making for pleasant trekking conditions. However, this is also the most popular time for the trek, so booking in advance is recommended.

Spring
Spring (March-May) is another excellent season for the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. As the harsh winter recedes, the region comes alive with vibrant wildlife and blooming wildflowers, particularly rhododendrons that turn the hillsides into a sea of pink and red. The mild weather and stunning landscapes make for an unforgettable trekking experience.

Summer/Monsoon and Winter
Trekking during the Summer-Monsoon (June-August) and Winter (December-February) seasons can be more challenging. In the monsoon, trails can be slippery and infested with leeches, with risks of landslides and avalanches. However, the lush green vegetation and clear mountain views after rain can be incredibly rewarding. Winter brings freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall, but also offers stunning views of snow-blanketed peaks. With proper preparation and gear, the trek is doable in these seasons as well.
